The boy, who is a school dropout known as Yusuf Alimi was captured on camera standing in front of Obi’s car and spread his arms wide apart.

The photo went viral and caught the attention of many people including celebrities like Cubana Chief Priest and the PSquare brothers.

The Socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, aka ‘Cubana Chief Priest’ then offered to sponsor Yusuf Alimi through Tertiary Institution.

Following the turn out of events, a supporter of APC’s Omo-Agege who is seeking re-election decided to do same and the photos are currently circulating online.

Meanwhile, Cubana had announced the scholarship for the ObiDient boy on Instagram where he shared a photo of him and the teenager stating that Yusuf’s life will never remain the same again.

INEC Shifts Guber, State Houses Of Assembly Polls To March 18

A statement by the commission last night read, “Following today’s ruling by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (EPT) on the reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) used for the presidential election held on 25th February 2023, the commission met to assess its impact on the commission’s preparations for the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, 11th March 2023.

“Nigerians would recall that on 3rd March 2023, the Presidential EPT had given an ex parte order for some political parties to inspect materials used for the presidential election, including the forensic inspection of over 176,000 BVAS used in the election which are located in INEC LGA offices across the country.

The commission approached the tribunal to reconsider the order, given that the BVAS systems were to be deployed for the Governorship and State Assembly elections and that the lack of a clearly defined timeframe for the inspection could disrupt the commission’s ability to conduct the outstanding elections.

“For instance, the BVAS can only be activated on the specific date and time of an election. Having been used for the Presidential and National Assembly elections on 25th February 2023, it is necessary to reconfigure the BVAS for activation on the date of the Governorship and State Assembly elections.

“While the ruling of the Tribunal makes it possible for the commission to commence the preparation of the BVAS for the Governorship and State Assembly elections, it has come far too late for the reconfiguration to be concluded.

“Consequently, the commission has taken the difficult but necessary decision to reschedule the Governorship and State Assembly elections which will now take place on Saturday 18th March 2023. By this decision, campaigns will continue until midnight of Thursday 16th March 2023 i.e. 24 hours before the new date for the election.

“This decision has not been taken lightly but it is necessary to ensure that there is adequate time to back up the data stored on the over 176,000 BVAS machines from the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on 25th February 2023 and then to reconfigure them for the Governorship and State Assembly elections.

“This has been the practice for all elections, including the period when the commission was using the Smart Card Readers. However, we wish to reiterate that the commission is not against litigants inspecting election materials. Consequently, we will continue to grant all litigants access to the materials they require to pursue their cases in court.”

We Didn’t Sell Delta Liaison Office: Okowa To Omo-Agege

The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has denied the allegation by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ovie Omo-Agege, accusing him of selling off the state’s liaison office in Lagos State for political gains. The governor said there was no amount of aspersions that Omo-Agege would cast on him that would stop the PDP governorship candidate in the state from not defeating him in the Saturday’s gubernatorial contest.

He said the Liaison House was not in the best shape; hence it was given out to a developer after feasibility study was carried out for restructured renovation work to accommodate a 21-storey building which was not approved by the Lagos State government, owing to the cases of incessant collapse buildings in the state.

He said Omo-Agege, who had plotted to use the federal might to militarise the entire 25 local government areas of the state for the Saturday elections, lacks the electoral value and political credentials to withstand his democratic service delivery. The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu in Asaba, the state capital, yesterday called on the security agencies not to submit to his political naiveties. He said: “PDP is not ready to kick out electoral democracy in Delta State. To cast a vote for Omo- Agege’s APC will be a disaster in the Government House. A vote for PDP in Delta State is a vote for more than deploying the service of your tongue for casting aspersions.”

Breaking: DSS Alerts Of Plot To Cause Mayhem After Guber, Assembly Polls

The Department of State Services (DSS) has alerted the public of orchestrated plans by some persons to cause a total breakdown of law and order in the country shortly after the March 18, 2023 Gubernatorial and State House Assembly elections.

In a statement by Peter Afunanya, Public Relations Officer, DSS, he drew attention to the unnecessary palpable political tension in parts of the country prior to the elections under reference.

“It is observed that some of the players are at daggers drawn with one another. The development holds dire consequences for national peace and stability.

“It is in view of these that the service warns politicians and their supporters to engage constructively. Everyone is advised to shun fake news, hate speech and such other utterances that may be inimical to peaceful co-existence.

“Election should not be seen as a do or die affair. There is no basis for anyone to take laws into their hands. This is even more so that aggrieved persons can take advantage of our courts and seek redress. We should have faith in our institutions”, DSS said.

He said over this election period, the service has remained committed to providing conducive environment for a peaceful exercise, noting that in this regard, it separately and in collaboration with sister agencies, carried out mop up operations to thwart nefarious plans and activities of undesirable elements to out rightly undermine the electoral processes.

“For hitch-free Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections, the service has partnered with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the required peace is maintained before, during and after the exercises.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the service will work to make sure that no person or group, no matter how highly placed disrupts the scheduled elections in any part of the federation. It is committed to the safety and security of citizens who may wish to go out to exercise their civic responsibility. All and sundry are, therefore, enjoined to abide by the rules of engagement particularly the Electoral Act and extant guidelines”, he said.

Similarly, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, has said the police will be ruthless with “anybody who decides to test our collective responsibility as a nation”.

DIG Inuwa, who is in charge of Training, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and the North Western geopolitical zone of Nigeria, stated this to journalists after his meeting with political party leaders and other stakeholders at the police officers mess on Wednesday in Kaduna.

“We will not allow misconduct, we will be ruthless to anybody who decides to test our collective responsibility as a nation.

“We will be ruthless to anybody or group of people we see carrying arms, if anybody or group is caught, they will have themselves to blame,” he warned.

He quoted the Inspector General (IG) of Police as having instructed them to go around and sue for peace, especially at such a critical period when gubernatorial elections would hold in a few days.

He noted that they would meet with critical stakeholders such as politicians, religious leaders and journalists, among others, to sue for peace in the country.

He added that the police have put in place strategies to ensure peaceful conduct of the gubernatorial elections.

“Additional policemen have been posted to Kaduna in order to provide more security for the conducts of the elections,” he said.

Inuwa further said, “Nigeria belongs to all of us and it is our civic responsibility to ensure that it remains peaceful by coexisting and cohabiting together as one indivisible Nigeria.”

The DIG assured Nigerians that their rights to vote would not be tampered with, pledging to provide the enabling environment for peace to enable them to exercise their franchise

Delta State Government Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plots To Militarise Polls

2023: Utomi lied about venue for LP rally – Delta govt

From Paul Osuyi, Asaba

Delta State Government on Wednesday raised the alarm over alleged plots by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use the military to compromise this Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.

Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, who raised the alarm in Asaba, said the plan was to militarise the state with a view to using the army officers to harass and intimidate voters.

Aniagwu however appealed to security agencies not to succumb to pressures by the APC to compromise the polls in Delta State.

“We also hear that, given their (APC) controversial victory at the center, Omo-Agege and the APC in Delta State are planning to deploy the military to militarize the elections in the strongholds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the 25 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state to harass voters.

“We want to seize this opportunity to plead with the leadership of the military, the police, and the civil defense corps to caution all their men and personnel not to yield to the antics of this person who knows that he has lost the election and would want to harass innocent Deltans to achieve what he thought that they achieved in the presidential election,” he said.

Aniagwu further described rumours that the state government had sold its liaison office in Lagos as a cheap attempt by the opposition to blackmail the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration.

He explained that after a feasibility study on the property to maximize its value, the state government proposed restructuring the building using a public-private partnership arrangement.

According to him, the staff were only relocated to a temporary location for the purpose of restructuring after securing approval from the Lagos State Government for a 10-storey building of 60 luxury apartments.

He further dismissed claims circulating that the state government has borrowed N850 billion, stressing that the Okowa administration has been transparent and accountable to Deltans on how it accessed and expended funds for developmental purposes in the last eight years.

“I urge all Deltans to continue supporting the love, harmony, and unity that exist among the different ethnic groups in the state. The candidate of the PDP, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been intentional about what he will do if allowed to pilot the affairs of the state.

“They (APC) are attacking Okowa because they know that his enviable track records are an advantage for Oborevwori. APC do not have what to build on because their abysmal performance at the federal is so disturbing, which is why they have continued to resort to blackmail and propaganda.

“For anybody to vote in favour of APC, such a fellow would invariably be subscribing to slavery. His (Omo-Agege) candidature is an existential threat to both democracy and the development trajectory that we have witnessed in the state,” Aniagwu declared.
